Director of Special Education

Mary Ellen Hamner is the Director of Special Education for Plaquemines Parish School District. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Nicholls State University, and Master of Education from the University of New Orleans. Mary Ellen is certified in Elementary grades 1-8, Mild/Moderate grades 1-12, Child Search Coordinator grades 1-12, Educational Leadership, and Educational Diagnostician Grades K-12. She has worked as an elementary, middle and high school teacher before becoming an Educational Diagnostician on the pupil appraisal team.  Mary Ellen also served as Pupil Appraisal Coordinator prior to becoming the Director of Special Education.
