Public Notice of Destruction of Student Special Education Records
Dear Parent/Eligible Student:
Notice is hereby given that Plaquemines Parish Schools intend to destroy the records of all students who exited the special education program either by moving, graduating, or being dismissed from the program following the schedule below. PPSB special education records are maintained for a minimum of five years after the student exits the special education program. The purpose of the destruction of records is to protect the student from improper and unauthorized disclosure of confidential information contained within the file.
Any parent/guardian of a student under the age of 18, or former student who has reached 18 years of age, may review and/or receive these records by contacting:
Special Education Department, 1484 Woodland Highway, Belle Chasse, Louisiana 70037.
Requests must be received by March 20, 2025.
Only written requests will be accepted. If no student, parent or guardian responds to this public notice, the school district will assume consent to destroy the entire record specific to the student. If you do not understand this notice or are in need of interpretation, please call 504 595 6400 and request the special education department.
