in this video we will go over setting up multi-factor authentication also known as two. verification inside Google in is an easy way to add an extra layer of security to your account most multi-factor authentication involve entering in a code after your password look how to configure Google's multi-factor authentication first we will log into our ppsb Google account the easiest way to get to the ppsb Google account is by logging into our school board email next click on the profile in the upper right corner click manage your Google account from the menu on the left select security find a section labeled how to sign into Google select two step verification click get started by default a phone number will need to be provided other options are available by clicking show more options but we will not be going over those in this video for this demonstration I am using a desk phone number and cannot receive text messages I will request my code be sent by phone call instead of text a confirmation code will be delivered to the phone number you provided type the code into the field and click next after confirming it works click the turn on button back at the security page we can see that the two step verification is on now we will go through the steps of creating backup options for when phone service is not available we have various options the two options we will cover are the goo authenticator app and backup codes first we will cover the more secure authenticator app option or app can be installed from either Google play or Apple app store's depending on your device after installing Google Authenticator app continue at the 2-step Verification screen from the 2-step Verification screen selects the arrow next to authenticator app this will generate a QR code that needs to be scanned by the authenticator app for this demonstration show the steps on an iPhone please steps will be similar on an Android device find and open the Google Authenticator app Quick scan a QR code you may have to Grant the app permission to use the camera on your device after scan the QR code enter the 6-digit code from the app on the setup authenticator dialog click verify and Leslie done the other option is to print backup codes from the 2-step Verification screen select Arrow next to backup codes click the get backup codes button 10 backup codes will be generated and displayed these code should be stored in a secure Manner and not shared if the codes are ever lost or stolen return to the screen click the trash bin to stop these codes from working at the screen we can also print or download the codes thanks for watching and making our district more secure with multi-factor Authentication
