Licensed Clinical Social Worker (North Team)
Chere' Richards a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified School Social Work Specialist (C-SSWS). Chere', along with Pupil Appraisal Staff, coordinate the annual implementation of our schoolwide suicide prevention program Signs of Suicide https://www.mindwise.org/parents/ (which screens all students in grades 6-12 in our district). She provides support for students struggling socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. Chere' does individual and group counseling to assist students with anger management/emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and self-advocacy. She assists with behavioral intervention strategies in the classroom, as well as conducts adaptive and social-emotional assessments, behavior plans, and crisis/safety plans. Chere' assists with educational planning for our special education students. Chere' has worked in Pupil Appraisal in Plaquemines Parish for the past 22 years. Prior to that she was a social worker with the Families in Need of Services program and Juvenile Probation for the 25th Judicial District Court in Plaquemines Parish. Chere' got her Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1990 and Master’s in Social Work from Tulane University in 1992.
