BCHS Cardinals Soar on AP Exams

It was a banner year for the Belle Chasse High School Advanced Placement (AP) program. Principal Jemi Carlone and her staff are extremely proud of this year’s results. 131 students were administered 146 exams with a record number of students passing the prestigious and rigorous exams. Students were offered seven AP courses in 2015 which were taught by some great teachers. A score of 3 on a 5 point scale is considered passing by AP’s standards, and this year’s passing rate was a whopping 58.8%. To put that in perspective, the state of Louisiana’s passing rate is 31.2% % and the National average is 61%. The 58.8% passing rate was an increase from the BCHS 2014 passing rate of 46.2%. Additionally, there were seven students who scored the highest possible score of 5. Of the seven “5’s” we received, six of those scores were in Human Geography (All 9th graders , Anthony Berlinghoff, Carlie Celentano, Morgan Ebersole, Tara Furey, Talazia Manuel, and Talia Rivero) and one was in World History (Oleksandr Molchanov). BCHS students scored better than the state average on all seven exams, and better than the national average in Biology, Literature and Composition, and Human Geography. Huge thanks go to Superintendent Denis Rousselle and his central office staff for making

this a possibility,  and of course a huge tip of the cap to the students and teachers who worked so hard.
