BOOK BAGS, BACK PACKS, SHOULDER BAGS AND PURSES

The Plaquemines Parish School Board recognizes the need to provide safeguards for the health and safety of all students attending its public schools.  Certain types of book bags, back packs, shoulder bags, or other totes are a potential hazard during the loading and unloading procedures of a bus or during an emergency evacuation, as well as on school campus, and in a school facility during the school day.  Therefore, the School Board prohibits the use of book bags with extension handles and/or wheels/rollers by any student for any purpose on school property and/or school buses.  Shoulder bags, knap-sacks, and back packs accepted for use on school property and/or school buses are to be made of clear plastic or see-through mesh.

Girls’ purses must be modest in size.  Over-sized purses, travel bags, portfolios, brief cases, etc. shall not be allowed.
