Belle Chasse High School Student is National Merit Semi-Finalist

Belle Chasse High School Senior Oleksandr Molchanov has been named a 2017 National Merit Semifinalist.  Molchanov has an overall GPA of 4.36, is currently ranked #1 in his class, and just this past year was named an AP Scholar with Distinction by the Collegeboard.  Oleksandr is planning to apply to MIT and Cal Tech, and will pursue a degree in Astrophysics.  In addition to being an outstanding student, Oleksandr is talented in martial arts. He has participated in Tae Kwon Do for seven years and has a 2nd degree black belt.

National Merit Semifinalist selection is based on their score on the PSAT.  Over 1.6 million students nationwide take the PSAT, but only 16,000 are named semifinalists.  Oleksandr is the first Belle Chasse Cardinal ever to achieve this honored status.

Congratulations Oleksandr!
