Student Movie Makers at BC High School
The Belle Chasse High School World Geography students, under the instruction of Mr. Paul Wolf, are participating in the second 06-07 Pearson Foundation funded Digital Residency Program for Plaquemines Parish Schools. Earlier this school year, students at Belle Chasse Middle School successfully completed their program. BCHS student pairs are collaborating to create a 3-5 min. movie directly related to the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum. They are using Adobe Premiere Pro software, the Internet, MS Word, digital video and still cameras. Resident consultants, hired by the Pearson Foundation, will be directing this 2-week project from December 4-15, 2006 in Mr. Wolf’s BCHS classroom. Movie topics range from global warming and coastal erosion, to natural disasters and surveys of countries from around the world.
South Plaquemines High and Elementary School will be the site of the 2007 spring Digital Residency and potentially the site for a 2007 Summer Digital Arts Camp. With the movie industry returning to Louisiana, more importantly New Orleans, our Plaquemines Parish students are getting a jump-start by learning these movie-making skills.
