Florida Donations

Superintendent James Hoyle and Assistant Superintendent Eva Jones review some of the donations made by Sarasota and Manatee, Florida school districts.
A friendly competition between two Florida school systems has ended up as a win-win situation for Plaquemines Parish Schools. After Hurricane Katrina, the Sarasota and Manatee, Florida school districts issued a friendly challenge to help raise funds and supplies for Plaquemines Parish schools in response to a letter Plaquemines Parish Schools Superintendent Hoyle wrote asking for help from school districts across the country. The two Florida districts raised a combined $72,000 during a fund drive in December called the Holiday Hope campaign and also donated a truckload of supplies including desks, file cabinets and chairs. The truck was unloaded last week at the school system’s warehouse in Belle Chasse.
