Head Start Parent Orientation

E-mail Print PDF

All parents of Head Start Students must attend Parent Orientation before their child may begin class.  If parents are unable to attend the Parent Orientation scheduled for their school, they should call the Head Start Office to make arrangements to aattend a Parent Orientation at one of the other schools. (Ms. Janel: 595-6392 or Ms. Manuel: 595-6391).  We prefer that parents DO NOT bring their children to orientation.

New Head Start Facility Underway

E-mail Print PDF

The new Head Start Hurricane Katrina facility at Belle Chasse Primary School is well underway.  The project is funded by Federal Head Start funds.  The photos show the foundation in June, the walls going up in July, and the roof going on in August.  Head Start is very excited about the new building which will have 4 large classrooms, a gross motor activity room, a cafeteria, and a state of the art playground.  We hope to move in during the Thanksgiving break.

How Do I Place My Child in Head Start?

All applications and paperwork must go through the Head Start Office.  Head Start Guidelines require Head Start Management Staff to verify income and sign off on consent forms.  Call Vera Manuel for an appointment at (504) 595-6391.  Please do not take paperwork to schools as Head Start cannot accept partial or incomplete packets.  The Head Start Application packet is not the same as the Preschool or Elementary School packet.
