Congratulations! Plaquemines Parish Learning Center, teacher, Beverley Barquet has been selected as a Finalist in Scholastic’s Outstanding Educator Awards contest!

A Scholastic Outstanding Educator must demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to helping READ 180 and/or System 44 students grow personally and academically by attaining the literacy skills needed to succeed in school and in life. The teacher is a champion of technology and innovation, utilizing data to continuously modify instruction to meet the complex needs of struggling readers. Most of all, the teacher requires excellence at all times, inspiring students to see beyond the borders of the classroom and continue to improve their reading achievement to reach their goals.
This year, Scholastic received hundreds of nominations from educators across the country and Mrs. Barquet’s story resonated with Scholastic as a true testament to the power of hard work, innovation, and most of all, the power of reading!
Best of luck Mrs. Barquet as you advance to the next level of competition in The Scholastic Outstanding Educator Awards contest and thank you for showing our students how to succeed as winning readers!
